Bangladesh achieved significant success with the ball on the second day of the one-off Test against Afghanistan. Pacer Ebadot Hossain dealt a blow to Afghanistan by breaking the 70-run partnership between Abdul Malik and Rahmat Shah. The Afghans are putting up a fight in response to the 346 runs scored by Bangladesh in the first innings.
By the second session of the day, Afghanistan had reached 131 for 2 in 45 overs. At that stage, they still trailed Bangladesh's first-innings total by 215 runs. Abdul Malik was unbeaten on 60, and Rahmat Shah was not out on 33.
However, Ebadot brought relief to Bangladesh by breaking the partnership between Malik and Rahmat. The Afghan opener departed after scoring 62 runs, caught behind the wicket. Earlier, Hasan Mahmud had dismissed Afghanistan's other opener, Ibrahim Zadran. Later, Ebadot secured another crucial breakthrough for Bangladesh by removing Shahidullah; Hasan Mahmud took a brilliant catch to complete the dismissal.

Waiting for Wickets for the Spinners
Although two wickets had fallen in the Afghan innings, Bangladesh's spinners were yet to claim a wicket. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nayeem Hasan, and Taijul Islam were still waiting for their breakthroughs. Meanwhile, Malik and Rahmat Shah were batting fluently, steadily advancing Afghanistan's innings. At the end of the second day's play, Bangladesh's objective was to put Afghanistan under pressure by quickly claiming more wickets.
Hasan has claimed 50 Test wickets, becoming the fastest pacer from Bangladesh to reach the milestone. Among other pacers, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (78) and Taskin Ahmed (59) have previously achieved the feat of taking 50 wickets.
