Chelsea Reach 100 Red Cards in Premier League, Everton and Arsenal Ahead
Chelsea have reached a century of red cards in Premier League history following Cole Palmer’s dismissal against Tottenham Hotspur.
Palmer was sent off in the 80th minute after receiving a second yellow card as Chelsea suffered a 2–0 defeat to Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. It was the first red card of the 24-year-old England winger’s senior club career.
Palmer has already made 182 top-level appearances for Manchester City and Chelsea, including 41 for City and 141 for the London club.
Chelsea Reach the 100-Mark
Palmer’s dismissal took Chelsea’s total number of Premier League red cards to 100.
However, Chelsea are not the first club to reach the landmark. Everton and Arsenal had already crossed the century mark, while Newcastle United are closing in with 96 red cards.
Manchester’s two major clubs are further behind. Manchester City players have received 78 Premier League red cards, while Manchester United players have been sent off 77 times.
Chelsea’s Red-Card Record Last Season
Chelsea also had a difficult disciplinary record during the 2025–26 Premier League season.

Their players received eight red cards, the highest total in the league that season.
However, the record for the most red cards by a club in a single Premier League season belongs to neither Chelsea nor the traditional giants.
Sunderland players were shown nine red cards during the 2009–10 campaign, while Queens Park Rangers also received nine in the 2011–12 season.
Red Cards So Far This Season
By October 24, a total of 12 players had been shown red cards in the 2026–27 Premier League season.
Brentford and Sunderland have each had two players sent off, while Chelsea have received one red card so far.
With 100 Premier League red cards now on their record, Chelsea have joined an unwanted statistical milestone alongside some of the competition’s most historic clubs.
