Dhruv Rathee’s explosive allegations regarding Salman’s ‘Matribhumi’: Was a scene reshot because of China?
Fresh controversy has arisen surrounding Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's upcoming film, *Matribhumi: May War Rest in Peace*. Popular Indian YouTuber Dhruv Rathee alleges that several scenes had to be reshot due to political pressure aimed at avoiding a negative portrayal of China. The film was originally titled *Battle of Galwan*. However, it has not yet been independently verified whether political pressure was indeed the reason behind the reshooting of these scenes.
Dhruv Rathee spoke about the film during a press conference in New Delhi on October 11. Discussions began after a video of his remarks circulated on social media. Some of Salman Khan's fans have also reacted to the alleged changes made to the film.

Allegations of a Shift in Stance Regarding China
Rathee claims that the earlier version of the film highlighted certain issues concerning China, but the government was reluctant to grant permission for its release. He alleges that, as a result, the filmmakers were compelled to reshoot a significant portion of the movie.
At the press conference, Rathee stated that while the film initially depicted certain aspects involving China, the government could not reach a firm decision regarding its release. According to him, instructions were issued to reshoot the film in a way that presented a comparatively positive stance toward China.
He also raised questions regarding the Indian government's position on China, the United States, and influential figures like Elon Musk. To substantiate his statements, Rathee noted that he expresses his opinions independently on YouTube and is not affiliated with any political party.
However, no independently verified information has yet emerged to confirm these allegations. Consequently, the matter is currently being treated merely as a claim made by Dhruv Rathee.
Discussions on Social Media
Following the public release of Rathee's statements, discussions and criticism regarding the alleged changes to the film erupted on the social media platform X. Some users agreed with his remarks and expressed their indignation. Several questioned whether it was forbidden to mention China by name, even when depicting the loss of Indian soldiers' lives. A video of Rathee’s remarks was also shared on one of Salman Khan’s fan pages. The post claimed that although Salman himself has not spoken publicly on the matter, Rathee’s assessment of the film is accurate.
From ‘Battle of Galwan’ to ‘Matrubhumi’
The film starring Salman was initially titled ‘Battle of Galwan’. It is based on the 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley, an incident that claimed the lives of 20 Indian soldiers.
The title was later changed to ‘Matrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’. Alongside the name change, allegations regarding the reenactment of certain scenes have raised fresh questions about the film's content and its portrayal of the India-China conflict.
Likely Release in November
Reports regarding preparations for the film's release have also surfaced. Citing ‘Bollywood Hungama’, it is reported that the revised version received clearance from India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting last September. The next step likely involves submission to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
If all procedures are completed, the film could hit theaters this coming November; November 13 has been mentioned as a probable release date, though the date has not yet been finalized.
Controversy Surrounding Dhruv Rathee’s Detention
Dhruv Rathee had also been at the center of a controversy prior to his comments on the film. According to reports, Delhi Police detained him at his residence in Gurugram on October 10. He was scheduled to participate in the ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ protest organized by the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
Sources within the Gurugram Police stated that he was released around 3:00 AM on October 11. Following his release, the YouTuber appeared at a press conference in New Delhi. Prior to this, he had met with senior lawyer and Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal. Rathi refuses to accept the incident of the police taking him from his home as a lawful detention; he claims it was an ‘abduction’.
Both Rathi’s allegations regarding Salman Khan’s *Matribhumi* and the film’s potential release date are currently topics of discussion. However, one must await more reliable information to verify the claims that scenes were reshot due to political pressure.
