The final blow came from Hasan Mahmud. He tempted Nathan Lyon with a sharp short delivery, and the Australian spinner failed to control the pull shot. The ball took the top edge and looped to midwicket, where Tanzid Hasan completed a comfortable catch.

Lyon scored 7 from 13 balls, while Josh Hazlewood remained unbeaten on 4.

A Historic Spell

Hasan finished with 6 wickets for 55 runs from 21 overs. It was not only the best bowling performance of his Test career, but also the best bowling figures by a Bangladeshi bowler against Australia in Test cricket.

This was the first time Hasan had taken more than five wickets in a Test innings, and the spell now stands as the third-best bowling performance by a Bangladesh pacer in Test history.

Bangladesh Pacers Dominate Together

Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain also played key supporting roles. From the opening session, the trio consistently troubled Australia’s batting lineup. Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head, and Cameron Green were all unable to build substantial innings.

Bangladesh’s pacers shared all 10 wickets in the innings. It was only the second time in Bangladesh’s Test history that the fast bowlers had taken every wicket in an innings.

The first occasion came against Pakistan in August 2024, when Hasan Mahmud had also claimed a five-wicket haul.
