Mikel Arteta’s long-term future at Arsenal has been secured. The Spanish coach has signed a new contract with the North London club that will keep him at the Emirates until 2030.

Arsenal confirmed the agreement on Wednesday, extending Arteta’s previous deal, which was due to expire at the end of the current season. The new contract means the 44-year-old will remain in charge of the Gunners for another four years.

Arteta took charge of Arsenal in December 2019 after returning to his former club as head coach. He guided the team to the FA Cup title in the 2019-20 season before ending Arsenal’s 22-year wait for a Premier League title last season.

Under Arteta, Arsenal have also made significant progress in Europe. The club reached the Champions League final in May but finished runners-up after losing to Paris Saint-Germain in a penalty shootout.

Following the new deal, Arteta made it clear that he sees the club’s journey as far from over. He believes Arsenal can achieve even more together in the years ahead.

“We have already created a special bond and memories that will last a lifetime. The most exciting thing is that what we can achieve together is only the beginning,” Arteta said.

Arsenal have also made a strong start to their Premier League title defence. They have won four of their opening five matches, collecting 12 points to sit second in the table. Manchester City lead the standings with a perfect 15 points from five games.

Arsenal will return to action after the international break when they face Leeds on Saturday. For Arteta, the match will mark another step in a journey that will now continue through 2030.
