Shadab Khan produced one of the most remarkable match-winning innings in recent ODI cricket, rescuing Pakistan from the brink of defeat against England in Lahore.

Chasing 242, Pakistan were reduced to 154 for nine in the 34th over. With only Haris Rauf left to accompany him, Shadab needed to produce something extraordinary—and he did exactly that.

The Pakistan all-rounder remained unbeaten on 113 from 96 balls, smashing 13 fours and five sixes. His sensational knock helped Pakistan reach 243 for nine in 47.1 overs and secure a dramatic one-wicket victory.

Shadab and Rauf added an unbeaten 89 runs for the 10th wicket, setting a new record for the highest last-wicket partnership in a successful ODI run chase.

The most dramatic moment came when Shadab was on 97. Gus Atkinson's delivery struck his pads and the umpire raised his finger for lbw. Believing that he was out, Shadab slammed his bat into the ground in frustration, while players from both teams had already started preparing to shake hands.

However, Shadab reviewed the decision. Replays showed a thin inside edge before the ball hit his pad, overturning the decision and keeping Pakistan's hopes alive.

Shadab then completed his maiden international century and continued attacking England's bowlers. His unbeaten 113 is also the highest-ever ODI score by a batter at No. 8 or lower.

Haris Rauf played an important supporting role, remaining unbeaten on seven from 19 balls. He eventually hit the winning boundary to complete one of Pakistan's most dramatic ODI victories.

After the match, Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi was full of praise for Shadab.

“I have never seen an innings like this in my life, not even since I was a kid. As a captain, I am really happy.”

Shadab also credited Rauf for helping him complete the remarkable chase. The pair's communication throughout the final-wicket partnership became one of the most entertaining aspects of the match.

The victory took Pakistan into the final of the ODI tri-series, while England suffered their third consecutive defeat in the tournament.
