Paris Saint-Germain are making a strong statement against Europe's biggest clubs. After beating Manchester City 4–2 last week, PSG produced another impressive result in the Champions League, defeating Barcelona by the same scoreline.

Barcelona had remained unbeaten in their first 11 matches of the season, but PSG ended that run in style. After the victory, Morocco international and PSG defender Achraf Hakimi made it clear that his team wants to prove its place among the world's elite.

Speaking to CBS Sports after the match, Hakimi said facing a team like Barcelona gives PSG extra motivation to demonstrate their quality.

‘When you play against a team like this, you want to show them that we are the champions. We want to win more. We want to show that we are one of the best teams in the world, maybe even the best team at the moment.’

The victory was about more than just three points for PSG. It was another opportunity for the French club to demonstrate its strength on the European stage. After beating Premier League leaders Manchester City, PSG have now defeated an unbeaten Barcelona side as well.

PSG Show Character in a Tough Battle

The match was far from easy for PSG. Barcelona came back twice, while the momentum shifted repeatedly as both teams attacked at pace. Hakimi, however, was pleased with the way his side responded in a high-pressure game.

Speaking to French outlet Foot Mercato, he said PSG knew exactly how difficult the challenge would be.

‘We knew the match would be very difficult. We were facing one of the best teams in the world, a team that had not lost this season. But our team was incredible.’

Hakimi also highlighted the experience for PSG supporters.

‘It was a great match for the fans. We enjoyed playing it as well. In these types of matches, we have to defend and attack at a very high level.’

Hakimi Praises Luis Enrique

Hakimi also credited PSG head coach Luis Enrique for keeping the squad's winning mentality intact. According to the Moroccan defender, the Spanish coach works every day to maintain the team's hunger for victory.

‘The coach makes sure every day that we don't lose our winning mentality. We try to give our best. Hopefully, we can continue winning like this.’

Champions League Glory Remains the Goal

Despite the impressive victory, Hakimi is already looking ahead. PSG's biggest ambition this season is to win the Champions League once again, and the defender wants the team to maintain its winning momentum throughout the campaign.

‘We have a big objective this year, and we are trying to achieve it. We want to win the Champions League again. Our goal is to keep winning.’

Back-to-back victories over Manchester City and Barcelona have given PSG plenty of confidence, and Hakimi's comments underline the club's ambition. But with the season still long, PSG will need to maintain that level of performance through many more difficult challenges if they are to turn their confidence into another Champions League triumph.
